Spring Break Field trip

Since most of our Spring Break is spent working on our deck expansion project, we did want to do some interesting things for the kids. So we decided on local field trips. So last night after dinner we headed out to the site of the old Monte Ne Hotel and Ampitheater. The lake is so low that you can see the top of some of the ampitheater. The fellas climbed all around the remaining structure and explored the only standing building. Had to move them right along as the tried to read some of the grafiti! Seeing the lake makes us ready to hit the water!

God Bless America

SVdP 1st and 2nd graders put on an amazing program. It was a tribute to America. Lucas was really in to it as you can tell by the flag in his mouth. The program ended with the kids signing "Proud to be an American" as several kids escorted American heros out in front of the stage. It was very touching.

Wishing

she could rock a headband like Camden. Even if her hair was longer, she only leaves it on her head for 1/2 a second then yanks it right out.

Aw, fork...

Lady A has begun working with a fork. She's pretty good and using it to feed herself and absolutely excellent at throwing it!

Seven is heaven

Lucas is seven! It was very exciting day for Lucas as he finally got an iPod touch. He saved his Christmas money and worked his grandparents for birthday money so that he would have his portion for the touch. After soccer practice on Friday night we needed to Best Buy. He was so stinkin' excited. He counted out his money for the cashier for his "half" and walked out of that store with pride. He thrust his arm in the air with his hand in the rock on position and shouted "Yes, I got my touch!" He sat in the car while I ran in to get the pizza (yes it was cheese for lent) and watched it charge. He slept with it too! He also got new baseball gear. The Thursday before he took donuts to school and wore the birthday shirt, even though he hates participating in wearing things that deviate from the uniform. Then on Monday I brought him and Kale lunch up to school and we dined together. King Lucas had a good celebration!
These birthdays are wearing me out!

Cinco de Kale

Kale is finally five. Seems like he's been five forever but he's just gotten there. Little man was gifted with new baseball gear, legos, a giant kite and motorcycle men. As always, he woke up to a party in his bed. Balloons and streamers galore. He totally used and abused the birthday boy status. "Kale, go put your shoes away." "But I'm the birthday boy!" This wasn't just for one day either. He took donuts up to his class room and wore a birthday crown all day. It was a good day to be Kale!

That's how we roll.

Two of the men are another year older so what better way to celebrate than a roller skating party...again. Kale was not happy about it and then had a ton of fun. Steve changed Kale's skates a million times. Trainer, real ones, roller blades..on my! Lucas couldn't skate well when we started and was a pro by the end of the party. All of their good buddies were there to help roll in a new year.
