Ouch!

This is what Kale's finger looks like just over a day after it got slammed in the door. Steve did it. It's not important how it happened. He has heard us say that we think he'll lose his fingernail so he freaks out if he doesn't have a bandaid on. He thinks his finger nail is just going to fall off. Little man has a pretty sore finger.

Hoops

Okay, so I have been working to get a video of Logan playing ball uploaded for several weeks. Every time I get so far and get an unambiguous error. I've search high and low...no help to be found. Don't think Blogger's video upload and I are friends. Now it teases me. It's let me upload a few short videos just to toy with me. I've talked sweet to Blogger. I've brought out the mean mouth with blogger. Nothing but the same error! Serenity now! I will just keep trying over and over. Blogger you will not win! Share Logan's skills with the world, Blogger. His fans need to see this. For the love Pete, give it up Blogger! Okay Blogger, I have out smarted you and won. Eat my dust!

A now (drum roll please) a little sample of Logan's skills on the court.

The ice storm of 2009!

How did they do it before there was electricity? Not sure I would have survived back then. We lost power about 2:00 and were out until 10ish this morning. So there wasn't enough light to do much of anything by about 5:00. We lit candles the boys didn't over and over try to blow them out and were geared up with flashlights that were absolutely not shined in each other eyes, we played brainquest and puzzles, ate Chili that Josh brought over on the 4 wheeler...bed time right? It's only 6:30 NOOOOOOOOOO! So the genius parents that we are, we remembered the laptop had a charged battery. So we watched the Bee Movie on the laptop and 1/2 of a Scooby Doo until the battery finally died. Now it's bed time. Steve keep the fire going all night without catching anything outside of the fireplace on fire and we went to sleep listening to the trees break or drop limbs. Sounded like we had hunters in the forest shooting shotguns. Mid morning Steve, Josh & Zach attached the trees on the big hill with chain saws. The B boys bundle up and went out to watch. Logan made due without a real sled and had fun. Lucas disappeared into the house and came waltzing down the big hill with a skateboard. I don't think so! Couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him give it a try.

Frozen Tundra

We are frozen and there is no leaving this house! There is at least 1/2" of ice coating all the surroundings. Limbs are falling all around us. We have a tree that has fallen across the road about half way up the big hill. Our power is flirting with going out. The boys have convince themselves that there is a monster in the attic that is turning the lights off and on. Although I have told them there isn't a monster up there Lucas swears there is because he saw the monster stick his claw out of the attic opening. They are packing nerf guns and swords waiting for the monster to get cold enough to come out of the attic. That should keep them occupied for a little while. Sleet is still coming down. Keep your fingers crossed that we don't loose power. No power = no TV, no wii, no computer, no heat, no water, no cooking....Yikes!

Just hanging out...

Today was a nice day, relatively speaking. When you went outside you weren't afraid that any exposed skin would instantly freeze. Okay so we don't live in the NE so maybe that is a little bit of an over exaggeration. But it was nice enough that the boys could play outside for a short while. So I expected to pull into the driveway and have to dodge kids and a dog to navigate my car into the garage but there was no one around. When I walked in the door I wasn't greeted with hugs and kisses and overall excitement about my arrival. So I inquired about the location of the B boys and Daddio tells me they are outside and it's really cute (his words not mine). Hmmm.... Steve takes me to look out the window and this is what I see:
Kale and Lucas deep in the "Forest" lounging. I walked out there (to capture this pix of course) and asked them what they were doing and Lucas replied, "Just hangin' out with my brother, watching for deer. We've already seen 100." So I know they hadn't seen a 100 but I passed 15 just before the big hill so maybe they did have a sighting. One of the perks of living where we do.

Breakfast conversation:

M: Guys, we have a problem and I need you help coming up with some ideas to fix it.
(pause)
M: Kale isn't waking up dry anymore and he has to wear a pull-up again. What should we do to fix this?
Lucas: (without skipping a beat) Get rid of him. Can I have some yogurt?

That was awesome!

This is what I heard from Lucas as he did this:
Well at least he started only half way up the stairs. When we were younger we went the entire flight stuffed at the bottom of a sleeping bag sans the pillow. Ah the good ole days.

Logan drops a duece...two points that is!

A swish by Logan B yesterday. If only you could see the pure excitement & pride on that boys face for making a basket. Well maybe you could have seen it had I remembered the camera but I left it at home on the counter. What are you gonna do? Even had I brought it I'm not sure that I would have captured it with all the effort I was exerting to keep Lucas in the bleachers and off the court. That boy wears a momma out. None the less he put one in the bucket and he played pretty good defense. This is huge for him. He came home with the silver star for best offensive play! We got creamed but the other team had an kid that was probably at least 8 on their team and shot 85%.

We also had the pleasure of hangin' out at the Boyles house with their family as well as Meredith & Connor. We were in charge of the dessert and chocolate cake is what we tackled. It turned out pretty good. All those years at Simply Elegant are really paying dividends! The fellas helped frost the cake and add sprinkles. Kale was convinced it was his birthday no matter how often I explained to him that people do have cake on events other than birthdays.

The Boyles provide the main course which was Stromboli. Everyone got to "dress" their own. Lucas helped roll out the dough for everyone. Such a good little helper!

It was pretty fun time and we partied until like 10:30! Yeah I know we live the life of rock stars. Probably should have left 30 minutes earlier and could have avoid the Lucas meltdown brought on by the bed time music having words instead of just music. What were we thinking playing that? That was a tired kiddo.

FYI...Kale thinks his underwear has a pocket in the front. There is no convincing him otherwise. What a weirdo!

Catching Up

So we've been kind of boring hence the gap in blogging. Plus I have been introduced to facebook and a girl can only do so much over this satellite Internet. Thinking I am going to have to upgrade to the next speed. More cash falling out of my pockets. This weekend the boys were actually pretty good. Like talking politely, working together, including everyone, following directions...like right away. I took their temps and they were all okay. Just a fluke I guess. I'll take it! So they got to watch the Beethoven marathon on TV and have a slumber party downstairs...Logan & Lucas that is. Kale woke up before the big boys and the first words out of his mouth were to the tune of it's not fair that he didn't get to sleep on the couch. We snuggled him in and that seem to satisfy him. He's getting to the point that we can't sneak anything by him. But he has no idea that he isn't quite as big as the big boys.

Logan got his report card today and they were all pretty good grades. So he got to pick the dinner (Slim Chicken's) and then we picked up some ice cream on the way home. He even improved a few grades by some points. Nice work Logster!

Good Lucas Conversations:
M: Eat your dinner.
L: Get me some milk.
M: Not until you eat some of your dinner (Note: This kid does nothing but drink milk)
*Repeat a million times*
M: If you say milk again you're going to bed early.
L: Mom, please get me a drink and it has to be white.
You got to hand it to him. He didn't say milk.
Lucas keeps saying bad words (for a 4 year old) over and over. We call him on it a over and over. So it advances to soap in the mouth level. But Lucas does not fear soap in the mouth. He even has a preferred flavor. So we picked up a little advice on using vinegar...sick. This is one thing that Lucas does not like at all.
S: That's it Lucas, you're getting the vinegar.
L: Whining, crying, begging while struggling to escape daddio.
S: I don't like having to do this. Now did that get rid of all those bad words?
L (gagging): Well not forever.
Silent laughter from me...
That boy is quick on his toes!

Flash dominates the court ...kind of

The Flash took the court again this weekend and they may not have dominated the court but they played a great game. I took a decent video but can't get the flippin' thing to upload. Logan didn't score any baskets or make any big steals but he took the ball up the court several times and made a few assists. He has gained some confidence with dribbling. Now we just need him to realize that he doesn't play defense the whole time and when your on offense you don't have to stay with the player your gaurding. Head to the basket to shoot a duece.
