Rockin' the Roller Skates

Logan had 2 Roller skating birthday parties. Logan is not a big fan of skating simply because he's only been one other time prior to yesterday. His mom's a total lamo who never takes him. I gladly shoulder the responsibility of my kids not rockin' the roller skates.

PARTY #1
Duration: 90 min
% of time skating: 0%
Like I told Logan you don't go to a birthday party based on the activity, you go to celebrate your friend. He still had a good time hangin' out with Cole.

PARTY #2
Duration: 90 min
% of time skating: 75%

The difference is that this party was a private party so there was only about 10 kids skating. That's not as intimidating. Also, after 20+ years, his mom came out of retirement and laced up a pair of size 8's and dazzled the 1st graders with mad skating skills. Never once did I fall even though Logan tried to pull me down with him a few times. I even delivered a little backwards skating. Pretty sweet. Logan was getting better and braver and tried to convince me to stay after the party to skate with the masses. Negative.

All the party goers. No mingling of boys and girls in this photo.

Getting a little braver.

Race for the cure

Yesterday the boys and I participated in the "Race for the Cure" with our friends Meredith and Connor. We were 6 of a bagillion people. And by race we mean leasurely walk pushing strollers loaded down by bags of free stuff. They had tons of booths and activities for all ages. It was tons of fun and the perfect weather. Thanks to all the pink, it was the best day ever for Kale. After the walk the kids did an inflatable obstacle course, the Dash for the Cure, ate free McD's & pink sorbet. They picked up tons off stuff that I'm sure will take several weeks for me to get it all thrown in the trash put away properly. Here are a few pix from our day:

How cute is this kid? He wore the cape to Lucas' soccer game.

T-Ball and the Mayor

Lucas has been drug around to so many of Logan's activities we decided we could drag the other boys to one of his activities...the Yankee's T-Ball practice. Thank goodness the coach is a real looker or it wouldn't have been near as easy to pay attention! Plus what would I do if I was actually able to spend time awake in my own home. Hurry up summer and get here!

The boys meet the Mayor. He happened to make the mistake of running down the same street that Steve had a flat tire. Thank goodness he missed Steve busting out the mean mouth on the man who led to the flat tire. The mayor was gracious enough to stop and help us on his second pass, since we were still there working on it. He did offer on his first run by but we figured we could take care of it on our own. Well we could have but it was a huge pain and went faster with his help...even though Steve had loads of help from the fellas.

Kale tidbits

Our stalemate. Kale was not going to bed in his own bed.
"Kale, go to bed!!!"
"I won't!"
Silence
15 minutes later I discover this:

Kale rewrites history:
Can't remember what we were talking about one morning but this was part of our conversation:

K: Oh, yeah well God's dead.
M: Hmmm, really?
K: Yeah, he got shot.
M: No he didn't.
K: Yes he did! He got shot and made blood.
M: Not really. Jesus died on the cross...
K: No. God got shot.

2009 Spring Revolution

These boys have played some amazing soccer this Spring. They are a great team to coach even considering that they are a group of 7 year old boys who like to touch each other and themselves nonstop while telling me random things about there lives while I'm trying to talk. It's a real adventure.

Annual photo shoot

The boys endured the annual photo shoot with minimal whining. Okay a certain someone did complain about it big time since he had to get his pictures done twice at school and it's not fair. Sorry but you're Momma doesn't dig the lifetouch photo with of you in a school uniform or a free dress day outfit that consists of something we threw together at the last minute 'cuz we forgot it was a free dress day and picture day. Loving 7 so far! The same lady has been taking their pictures since Logan was just over 1 and does such a great job. She knows what I like and knows how to get the boys to cooperate with out death threats. In and out in 30 minutes with individaul shots as well as decent group shots. Love it!

Happy Easter Birthday

It's not very often that a person gets to share their birthday with Easter but it just so happened for Logan this year. Me, I don't share my birthday. Had it happened to me we would have had to push my b-day up a day. However, Logan is a bigger person than I am when it come to birthday's but sheesh that kid had like a million celebrations. We saved all the family presents for his actual birthday so that it wouldn't be a let down for him. He was into the Easter Bunny stuff just long enough to let his brother scope out their loot and then it was onto the B-day presents. You will notice the Razorback trashcan. Not a big fan of that gift but what do I expect when raising him in Razorback territory. He still blasts the K-State Marching band CD so it's not a total loss!

We also are blessed enough to have wonderful neighbors, well except Drew is part of that package and he is the big brother I never ever wanted, but the rest of them are great! Anyway we were invited over to Drew's mom's house for Easter dinner. Everyone pitched in and it was an amazing meal with awesome pies...ahh, coconut cream. Great eats without a great amount of effort. My entire cooking strategy! Since they don't have any young kids around, the B boys were in the spot light and loved every minute of it. Miss Ella arranged for an over the top Easter egg hunt. It had to be in the basement and not all over the farm due to the monsoon. There were a least 150 eggs stuff full of 2 of the greatest things - money & candy. Kale found all the "paper dollars" but Logan still drug in the most cash so he felt he was still victorious. After that there was a pinata for just the 3 boys. After several attempts Logan finally busted it open to produce more candy. Yeah, just what they needed! Wonder how long I will be picking up candy wrappers around the house????

Soccer, Indecent Exposure, Soccer

Another Saturday filled with Soccer. The B boys are on fire this year. Game 1 was Lucas' Lightning Fire's and that is what he was out on the field. The boy put the ball in the back of the net 4 times! Amazing! After each of his goals, little man pumped both arm in the air as he ran clear across the field. The man still has a ton of energy after those games. I think he needs to play on a way bigger field!

Now you may have naturally thought, "What did Lucas do this time?" when you read the post title but it was not him. The set-up details. There are 3 fields along side of each other and Lucas' team was playing on an end field. Most of the parents were standing/sitting behind or near the Knights bench and we were mixed right into the group. Because we were on an end field there was plenty of space for Logan and Kale to run around and play behind us. Well at half time a parent had arranged the boys on the bench and was taking their picture when all of a sudden all 3 soccer fields were looking our way laughing. I turn too look behind me and there wase my precious 3 year old standing on a mound of grass at an angle with his buns on display and a side view of a stream of urnine. Awesome! I guess we can be thankful it wasn't a frontal! I quickly ran and yank up those pants and gave him the talk about how we don't do that in public. "Well, nobody told him where the bathroom was. I can't see it." And that was Kale's defense. I think a parent snapped a picture and I'll post it once I get it.

Logan and the Revolution also had a fantastic soccer game. Those boys are figuring the game out a little. We played a team we lost to last seasson and beat them. It was 4 to 3, even though we are not keeping score. Logan scored another goal!! Now if we could just get that boy to hustle. He's making progress though and is really proud of himself, as am I.

It's good to be 7!

After many celebrations, Logan is finally almost 7! He has the fortunate pleasure of having his birthday on Easter Sunday. With a Saturday full of soccer games, we planned the party for Friday night...Good Friday that is and man was it good! It was a laser tag Party at FastLane. Other than the fact that Friday night is a crazy time to have a party as they are crazy busy, the party was a blast. They played a round of laser tag, splitting the boys up into 2 teams (Logan's won the first round, not that we were keeping score). It 's a pirate themed laser tag arena. So it's like you are on a pirate ship with a couple of levels and a draw bridge all under black lights of course. ***FYI never wear a black sweater under black lights...lots of black light "lint "on the sweater. Wearing white is totally cool though!*** The boys ran walked quickly around shooting each other like maniacs. After round one we headed to the party room for pizza (of course cheese as it was good Friday), cookie cake (Harps decorated the cake with a rifle even though I said laser tag. Whatever!), and then tearing into presents. BTW, it is totally necessary to remind your kid of the appropriate way to respond to opening gifts at 7! Then round 2 of laser tag began. A couple of the dad's played this round and Steve played with Kale in his arms 'cuz the vest was way too big for K-Man. While it was good to be 7, apparently it's not good to be 3 at a 7 year old's party. Kale was too little to do anything and it made him mad. He has very good negotiation skills and threatening skills but unfortunately I don't set the rules. After the party we stayed with a couple of friend and race the go carts. Another thing Kale could not do. Poor kid couldn't catch a break. Logan & Lucas had a total blast on the go carts! We tried to go bowling and feed the adults some pizza but didn't think it was worn a nearly 2 hours of waiting. Instead we caught a pizza and brewski at another favorite pizza spot. The boys wear unbelievably great even considering the activities and how late it was. We truly had so much fun. Logan's 7th birth was rockin'.

Car 42 a.k.a Sneak Attack

Number 42 in your program and number 2 in the record books. Not too bad for the first ever pinewood derby car build by the B family. Decked out in Camo and loaded with last minute weights, Logan's Pinewood derby car took 2nd place out of the 5 Tiger cub cars. We barely fell short of taking first place but car 44 (top left of photo) was about 2 mph faster than us. Sneak Attack averaged 200 mph in the 6 heats it raced. The fastest car of all the dens was 208 mph. We learned a lot about making cars faster so if there is a next time we should do equally as well. Logan was very proud of his car and head-over-heals excited about his trophy, medal and patch.

Saturday night

What a day of constant activity does to the B boys.

You can thank Logan for the nice weather today!

That's because he helped with the Weather for the Friday 5:00 news on KNWA. While normally you hear me whining about boy scouts, it does offer the kids some amazing opportunities... Friday after school Logan, Kale and I headed to the KNWA studio in Fayetteville to learn about weather an participate a live new program - Lucas & Steve went to T-Ball practice. We barely squeaked in before it started (man I hate being late!). We toured the offices and headed to the studio. You would think it was a large, isolated area but totally not the case. Those people know how to use space. Dan Skoff and Nellie Jones were fabulous hosts for the scouts. Dan geared everything he was doing towards the boys. The boys helped prepare some of the weather slides for the news, looked at lots of the tools used for weather and asked tons of questions. Then it was time for the news. We were literally within spittin' distance from Nellie and Dan (that is when I was most thankful for T-Ball practice :)). Kale continued his crush on the ladies and flirted with Nellie. The boys were super quiet and so well behaved. They helped open the weather segement and introduced themselves as "Pack 5, Den 3, Tiger Cubs from St. Vincent de Paul" all in unison! Plus Dan mentioned then several times while he was on the weather. We then watched the news play out. Got to tell you that was the most news I've watched in years! Then they were invited up behind the news desk to close down the news. Kale and I went as well. After the news was over they posed behind the news desk and then got to play "Weather Anchor" in front of the green screen. The pix are of the TV screen so you could see what they were pointing to. Then Dan taught them about Severe Weather Safety. It was totally awesome and hopefully something Logan will remember forever! Next time you're over I be sure to show you it, 'cuz you know I DVR'd it!

Goal!Goal!Goal!Goal!

Today was opening day for Soccer and the B boys brought home the gold. Well if there was a gold they would have brought it home but really they just got a G2 and some cookies. They were happy. The Revolution (coached by yours truly) cleaned house. I wouldn't have believed had I not seen it but Logan scored 3 goals! Yes three!!! That is more that he has ever scored in his entire career prior to the game. Down 3 players each of the boys on the Revolution had to play a ton of soccer. They were in shape due to the million yo-yo's they ran at practice. Just kidding...or am I. I am! Yo-Yo's are to hard to make happen on a practice field with no lines. Nothing but laps! Had there not been a uniform screw up, both B boys would be wearing orange. It's not the case. The Revolution represents the baby blue proudly (after just a little bit of whining from the boys). No pictures of the game. I wonder who was in charge of the camera then. Hum...

With just a short break to shove McD's down the boys, it was off to Lucas' first ever official soccer team. The Knights were scoring machines. Lucas has some real hustle and went in the correct direction almost the entire time. Lucas put one ball in the back of the next but he will tell you he scored 6 as his team shares all the goals. We need to work on his counting skills 'cuz they put more than 6 down.
