Burping

This is the face I get when I try to burp the little lady. Apparently she is very ladylike as getting her to burp is difficult...unless daddy does it. She burps for him very easily, so he says. Oh how she begins to wrap him around her finger...

Kale is 4 today!

Making sure my kids feel special on their birthday is something that is important to me. I think I created a monster with Kale! Pretty much any time he enters a room he shouts, "Here comes the birthday boy!" Not to mention he is the key decision maker on who gets cake or who can play with his new toys, etc. He clearly knows that today is his day. Mission accomplished. Our family tradition is to decorate their bed and fill it with balloons for when they wake up. He woke up "trapped" in his bed due to Steve's creative streamer decoration. He cried since he needed to go to the bathroom and couldn't figure out how to get out of bed. Then loved it and declared it won't be coming down until he turns 5. Doubt it will survive that long. He opened presents, decorated his cake, has been sung to a million times, blew out candles twice, played outside on this beautiful day, and went to his buddies b-day party at jump zone. Turning 4 has been good to Kale. Thank you to everyone who called him or sent a card or present. You helped make it an amazing day for Kale.

So clean!

Avery loves bath just as much as you would expect. It's a lung work out and the arms get a shaking. Then as we slowly get her dressed she calls down. By the time we are brushing that crazy head of hair, all is better.

The boys reaction

Too bad the camcorder battery ran out when the boys met Avery for the first time as it was priceless. Our neighbors, Drew and Bunnie, brought them up wearing their Big Brother T-shirts. They caught the attention of everyone in the hallway...in a good way. The doctor and the nurse actually came in with them but the nursery had kidnapped her so there was no Avery in the room. To call Kale scared would be an understatement. I was not wearing regular clothes, I had my IV still and I was in this crazy bed. He did not like it one bit and just went straight to Kasey and looked like he was about to cry. While waiting for Avery to join us they opened their presents from their little sister, of which contained a big box of nerds...why do I buy things like that? Finally the moment they had been waiting for...Avery's big entrance. Kale jumped off Kasey's lap and rushed toward her "bed" with Logan and Lucas just behind him They all just peered over the edge and were in awe of their sister. It was the sweetest thing ever! Even the nursery nurse said it nearly moved her to tears. They each had a little stuff animal for her and lined up to love on her. It hasn't stopped since. They get around in the morning with time to spare to hold her and burst through the doors after school to was their hands so they can hold her. She is well loved and fits in as thought she has been with us for ever.
"When she's done eating and she needs to hold me, she can."
Kale
"Rock a bye baby..."
Kale sung to her in the hospital
"I think we should call her Laser Yoda"
Lucas
"Wouldn't it be funny if instead of crying she sang the ABC's?"
Lucas

34 years, 23 minutes

is the exact difference between myself and my new birthday buddy

AVERY CLAIRE

She arrive on 2.28.2010 at 11:56 am at a mere 6 lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long. She joined us with the utmost ease (which momma appreciated!) and a head of crazy hair! The boys are absolutely crazy about her! More to come but I wanted to get a the pictures up for all to see.

Early Celebration

With a baby sister already messing things up, it all worked out in Lucas' and Kale's favor...an early birthday celebration. Dang it! We celebrated with friends at the roller skating rink. Nothing like putting a bunch of young kids on wheels and hoping no one gets hurt. The B boys had crazy, mad skating skills. Logan makes it a goal to pick up as many new bruises as possible. The kids all skating for an hour and half and weren't ready to quit. They all had a ton of fun. They have learned from their mom to really stretch out the birthday celebration...so I'm sure there will be plenty more celebration.

FYI...Don brought his own roller skates with neon laces that I think glowed in the dark. Don't be jealous that I have the coolest friends ever!

Nursery Addition

I solved my issue with how to incorporate the prayer into Avery's room. By solve I mean I came up with the idea. In no way was I the talent. All the credit for the work goes to the gifted Olivia!

Thank you Olivia. I love it and it's perfect!

Sprinkle

Today, my dear friend Julie threw the perfect "Sprinkle" in honor of the upcoming arrival of our little lady. It was a great lunch with a few of the girls, talking about mom stuff , baby stuff, and life in general. Not something I get to do very often. It was perfect! A little more pink to bring into this otherwise manly household.
