Early Celebration

With a baby sister already messing things up, it all worked out in Lucas' and Kale's favor...an early birthday celebration. Dang it! We celebrated with friends at the roller skating rink. Nothing like putting a bunch of young kids on wheels and hoping no one gets hurt. The B boys had crazy, mad skating skills. Logan makes it a goal to pick up as many new bruises as possible. The kids all skating for an hour and half and weren't ready to quit. They all had a ton of fun. They have learned from their mom to really stretch out the birthday celebration...so I'm sure there will be plenty more celebration.

FYI...Don brought his own roller skates with neon laces that I think glowed in the dark. Don't be jealous that I have the coolest friends ever!

Nursery Addition

I solved my issue with how to incorporate the prayer into Avery's room. By solve I mean I came up with the idea. In no way was I the talent. All the credit for the work goes to the gifted Olivia!

Thank you Olivia. I love it and it's perfect!

Sprinkle

Today, my dear friend Julie threw the perfect "Sprinkle" in honor of the upcoming arrival of our little lady. It was a great lunch with a few of the girls, talking about mom stuff , baby stuff, and life in general. Not something I get to do very often. It was perfect! A little more pink to bring into this otherwise manly household.

Nursery

Well the nursery is getting closer to being complete. Just a couple more things to do but nothing that will be a significant change. We did learn that when you paint walls pink, they are very pink. Steve painted the walls, put the crib back together, and hung the name. I made the curtains and painted all the birds. The birds came out her bedding. She is the only one were we didn't paint the "Angel of God" prayer on the wall. Still trying to figure out were to put that. Thinking about having it painted on a white canvas and hanging it to the right of the window.

Drowsy, you say?

Hmmm...turns out if your daddy gives your sweet 3 year old self night time cough medicine in the morning, you will be really sleepy all day...both days. So weird.

A Big Day

Last Thursday, 1.14.10, was a big day for Logan. He made his 1st Holy Reconcilliation. Kind of big deal since this was the first sacrament he will ever remember experiencing.

A lot of preparation went into it for him:
  • Reviewing the 10 commandments... explaining adultery was an interesting conversation.
  • Polishing the halo as per our discussion he could rarely think of how he broke a commandment.
  • Finding the quickest way to come up with 3 -5 sins to confess...he said 3
  • Remembering what to say to the Priest
  • Learning the Act of Contrition...which apparently has been rewritten, who knew? (well probably people who go to confession regularly knew)
  • A little big of nerves

After learning a song, hearing a gospel and a homily, and getting the logistics of the night under our belt we settled in for the long weight until the moment of truth. He confidently march up to his face to face set-up and sat on the edge of the chair looking so innocent and sweet. I leaned over to Meredith to tell her to get a pic (I left my camera at home...I was a single mom that night thanks to college) and in that short moment he was back on his feet walking proudly to the gathering space grinning the famous Logan grin. Mission Accomplished. He felt good about it. He has also informed me that confession is every Thursday and Saturday and we can go as often as we want...Good to know!

Steve was sad to miss it.

I've been sewing

So I've been sewing a few things in preparation for our little lady's arrival. A few dresses, bibs, head positioner, blanket, burb clothes, onsies, diaper bag accessories and curtains for her room. Now we just need the baby to use all this stuff. Just 7 more weeks!

Sam's Club Hotdog, you are no match for Kale!

Basketball game 2

Both of the B boys took the court at the same time so Steve and I did switch games at half time. Lucas was a little better this game. Got a few rebounds and was actually at both ends of the court. I step away to take K-man to the bathroom and he takes a ball the face and had to leave the game. I was gone like 2 minutes. There were tears but he was tough.

Logan...I think we have found his sport. He was was aggressive. He was the main ball handler when on the court. Took it to the hole anytime he could. Took several shots and sunk one of them. Calling for passes. Guarding his man like a prison guard. WOW! is all I can say. His face is serious and focus when out there. He was proud of him self. You can tell he is having fun. And he didn't even want to sign up this year...
