Summer Hair Cut

I wanted to buzz his hair but Steve & Kale both said no. So instead I went for the very short little boy hair cut that closely resembles a buzz. I love it! He likes it too 'cuz now it can be spiked like Lucas.

Old School Discipline

The boys have done great this Spring Break. Here we are Sunday evening and we are not begging for night fall so that we can put the boys to bed so that morning arrives and we can ship them back to school. We could keep this up for a while longer. But there have been a few ups & downs and my fair share of listening to a bunch of whining, tattle-tells. So tonight when Kale came crying about Lucas punching him the back and Lucas to only scream, "He punched me first!" and then Kale admitting he did it, I turned old school and pulled from the TDonn book of discipline. They had to hug it out. Now, they weren't on their knees on the front porch for the whole neighborhood to see for 15 long drawn out minutes but, by the time I had counted to 60 they were again friends on the verge of a wrestling match that promptly ended the hugging.

Notice how well they cleaned their faces after dinner. I guess that's what baths are for.

Addictions

We all have an addiction to something, healthily or unhealthy. If you don't know Lucas' addictions then you don't know Lucas. The boy need 3 things:

1. Milk in a sippy cup
2. My-My
3. Scooby Doo on the TV

Any combination of these 3 things is the ticket for Lightning Fire. Sometimes he just needs the first two, other times he need all three. Having the entire package can do wonders for him. Proof: Last night at about 4:00 am he comes to the top of the stares hollering for us to come up and see something. He is panicky and freaked out...there are bugs in his bed. Steve goes up and the search every inch of the bed and no bugs to be found. Lucas lays back down. Not 2 minutes later he is hollering again, the bugs are back. So I go up and we find no bugs. I move him downstairs to sleep on the couch and he falls off of it freaking out that there are bugs on his hands. So we load up a milk and grab his my-my and move him into our bed. We talk in detail about the bugs (fyi, my-my doesn't eat these kind of bugs, he just eats big ones. Who knew?). WE remove his shirt and search for bugs. Every freckle, scab, scrape was thoroughly inspected to rule out the possibility of it being a bug. Finally I convince him that there are no bugs and we can turn out the lights and go to sleep. Seconds later he claims the bugs are back and eating holes in his skin. It's clear that he is spooked and we are not going back to sleep, so I offer to turn on a Scooby from the DVR. I fire up Scooby and within minutes he is sawing logs and the bugs disappear to never bother us again. Pulling together the trifecta works yet again! He did tell me this morning that the bugs were real and not just a dream. Let's hope they don't show again tonight.

Lucas and the Knights

Lucas is officially playing real soccer this spring...the Knights. His whole team goes to SVdP but most of the team is made of Kindergartners and just a couple of pre-k kiddos. He won't admit it but he loves it. He had a ton of hustle (surprise, surprise) and doesn't back down from the opponent. The key is to just make sure he's moving in the right direction! He has a kid on his team that is nearly 6 but is the size of a 3rd grader and Lucas takes him right on. Now we have to convince him that soccer players don't wear hats!

Tonight Kale and I engaged in a quiz about why we have certain body parts.

M: Why do we have eyes?
K: To see.
M: Why do we have Mouths?
K: To talk....To eat candy....To drink milk
M: Why do we have ears?
K: To hear.
M: Why do we have legs?
K: To walk.
M: (Trying to trick him) Why do we have hair?

Wait for it.....

K: So we don't look like uncle Jamey!
M & K: Lot's of giggling.

We love Uncle Jamey and all of his baldness!!!!

Spring B-Day's in KC

All of the grand kids on Steve's side of the family have a birthday in the Spring, expect Payton. So this year we did a spring b-day celebration in KC. Uncle Todd hosted us and smoked ribs and chicken. I think my boys had the best, most well rounded meal that they have had in several weeks. (That's what it's like when mom travels and dad is finishing a house. Sacrifices the boys have to make! Like they even care.) All of the B Family Cousins came and played and exchanged birthday presents. That's where they picked up the new shades and the muscle shirt that Logan has yet to take off. They had new movies to watch in the car and they also got some cool water skate boards perfect for the lake this summer. Plus we have had several battles with the new nerf guns. It was great fun!

Before coming home we decided to spend the beautiful spring Sunday on the Plaza. Not only did Steve and I get to do some shopping but it was an amazing day walking around hanging out as a family. We wrapped up the afternoon with an early at the Cheesecake factory. After all that walking it was a pretty quite ride back home.

Happy Birthday Logan, Lucas, Kale & Ella!

This weekend was birthday palooza at our house. Being that 1/2 the little kiddos on my side of the family have a spring birthday, we all get together to celebrate in our neck of the woods. This was Lucas' first friend party and we even let Kale invite a few friends. Well a few friends for both ended up being 20+ kids. This is exactly why we had the party at Jump!Zone instead of at our house. Jump!Zone is not my favorite place to host a party 'cuz it's a shared party arena and you don't know when your guests arrive and the kids don't always know who is there until well into the party. None the less, the kids had an absolute blast. Jump!Zone has amazing inflatables that are not for the weak at heart. Don't ya know Kale needed me to go down all those wicked slides with him. There was lots of jumping and attacking Aunt Shan in the bounce houses...don't worry I was merciless! Kale was running a little fever so of course he was a cling on until that Motrin kicked in. Then he was a crazy man...and the fever never returned! After the kids were more than worn out, we headed to the party room where the kids received their much deserved sugar high. For whatever reason I get ideas in my head and then go ahead and execute them. This time it was to give a non-traditional party favor that matched the superhero theme. I made capes and masks for every kid in attendance. While it was loads of work it was worth it because it made Lucas' day and all the kids loved them. Will I do it again...probably so as I always do that to myself.

We headed home for the best pizza (shout out to Johnny Bruscos!) and then the frat party began. Guitar Hero jam session followed by a little pong in the garage 'til the wee hours of the night.
