Kale Singing

He needs a little practice on getting the hand motion in sync with the words. Still cute!

Spring B-Day's in KC

All of the grand kids on Steve's side of the family have a birthday in the Spring, expect Payton. So this year we did a spring b-day celebration in KC. Uncle Todd hosted us and smoked ribs and chicken. I think my boys had the best, most well rounded meal that they have had in several weeks. (That's what it's like when mom travels and dad is finishing a house. Sacrifices the boys have to make! Like they even care.) All of the B Family Cousins came and played and exchanged birthday presents. That's where they picked up the new shades and the muscle shirt that Logan has yet to take off. They had new movies to watch in the car and they also got some cool water skate boards perfect for the lake this summer. Plus we have had several battles with the new nerf guns. It was great fun!

Before coming home we decided to spend the beautiful spring Sunday on the Plaza. Not only did Steve and I get to do some shopping but it was an amazing day walking around hanging out as a family. We wrapped up the afternoon with an early at the Cheesecake factory. After all that walking it was a pretty quite ride back home.

Celebrate good times, come on!

There's a party going on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you
Come on now...

Happy Birthday Logan, Lucas, Kale & Ella!

This weekend was birthday palooza at our house. Being that 1/2 the little kiddos on my side of the family have a spring birthday, we all get together to celebrate in our neck of the woods. This was Lucas' first friend party and we even let Kale invite a few friends. Well a few friends for both ended up being 20+ kids. This is exactly why we had the party at Jump!Zone instead of at our house. Jump!Zone is not my favorite place to host a party 'cuz it's a shared party arena and you don't know when your guests arrive and the kids don't always know who is there until well into the party. None the less, the kids had an absolute blast. Jump!Zone has amazing inflatables that are not for the weak at heart. Don't ya know Kale needed me to go down all those wicked slides with him. There was lots of jumping and attacking Aunt Shan in the bounce houses...don't worry I was merciless! Kale was running a little fever so of course he was a cling on until that Motrin kicked in. Then he was a crazy man...and the fever never returned! After the kids were more than worn out, we headed to the party room where the kids received their much deserved sugar high. For whatever reason I get ideas in my head and then go ahead and execute them. This time it was to give a non-traditional party favor that matched the superhero theme. I made capes and masks for every kid in attendance. While it was loads of work it was worth it because it made Lucas' day and all the kids loved them. Will I do it again...probably so as I always do that to myself.

We headed home for the best pizza (shout out to Johnny Bruscos!) and then the frat party began. Guitar Hero jam session followed by a little pong in the garage 'til the wee hours of the night.

Good times had by all. Until next year!

Dragon

Cinco de Lucas

Mister, Sister had a fabulous 5th birthday. As all B boys experience, the party starts from the moment you wake up. The boy was surrounded by balloons and streamers and endless singing of the HBTY (that's Happy Birthday to You). The morning just got better on the way to school. We are daily listeners of Kids Place Live on XM radio. So being a fabulous mom that I am, I called in and made a Birthday Request for Lucas. Kenny Curtis did a solid job on the shout out to my boy. He spoke about him for at least a minute and ended with, "Happy Lucas' Birthday to Everybody, now let's Move it, Move it for Lucas!" And then he played, "Move it, Move it" from Madagascar 2, one of Luke's fav's. We were all pretty fired up. Lucas was pumping his arm in the air, waving the rock-on sign. It was awesome!!!! Then he was in the spot light all day at school. A birthday crown, donuts for the whole class, great behavior report... When it's your birthday you also get to pick the dinner plans, so of course we had Slim Chickens...Luke's favorite. On to the house to tear into presents and ice cream cake. The boy was happy and now armed with spy gear and a new big wheel.

Here's some pix of the big day.

Lightning Fire turns 5!

***Click on picture to make it bigger****

You hear the vast majority of parents most say how quickly their kids grow up and I would completely agree except I think Lucas Lightning Fire was four forever! Of course I'm pretty sure I say that every year about that boy.

In the five years you have been a part of our family, Lucas, you have made everyone around you smile and laugh. I think you are giggling on the inside 24/7. Your best day at this age is to be hooked up to an IV of milk with Scooby or Phineas & Ferb playing non stop. While you are a quirky kid with a short fuse, you are also a sweet, kind, sharing soul who loves life. You are brave, strong, smart, funny & independent. You have always been quick witted making it impossible for me to pull the wool over your eyes. You keep me sharp. You challenge me. I raise my glass of milk (ew if I drank it) to you my sweet boy. Happy 5th Birthday!

Nuggets and other stories...

Nuggets...guess what Logan thinks that makes a good"nickname" for? Per the Logster, it's a polite way to talk about them. Uhhhh, NO! Totally seeing the ROI for sending him to the Catholic school.

As many of you know, Lucas has had a rough last several weeks at school. Lots of tally marks on his kid report, lots of time outs, and more trips to the Principal's office than a mom would like to see. So today when I answer my phone as work on the other end is Lucas and here is what he says:

L: I had to go to the office today.
M: What? You went to the office?
L: Yup. I had to go to the office.
M: LHB are you kidding me?!! What the heck for?
L: Just kiddin' mom! No reminders on my report today just a big happy face!

Lucas' last day of being 4 was a good one! Nice work Luke Dog Lightning Smoke Fire!

Kale has always chosen pink as his favorite color and I've never thought twice about. He's secure in his boyhood. A kid likes what a kid likes. Well I am now officially concerned. Anytime he sees the Get Better Baby Alive commercial or the Barbie/Rapunzel commercial (The doll that you can cut her hair), he screams, "I want that. You buy it for me? We go to Wal-Mart right now?" Ummm, NO. Actually never! He just ran into the living room to see the My little pony commercial that just started. I draw the line at pink! Here's to hoping this is just a phase!

How to make a 3 yr old happy

Get him this for his birthday! The big boys were dieing to try it out and he was having no part of sharing his new ride. He finally let them on, but only after they gave a deposit and signed a very detailed rental agreement!

While K-Man was sad to see his birthday go, he had a great day. He is just like his Momma and takes full advantage of it being his day (in my case it's a week but who's keeping track?). We went to the new Target and he wanted a watering can and said, "It's my birthday, will you buy this for me?". Of course I did plus a bag of M&M's he needed for the same reason. When he got in trouble for pulling Logan's hair he defended himself with, "It's my birthday". Funny boy!

Three and climbing!

****Click on picture to make it bigger****

Just 3 short years ago my sweet baby Kale made his way into this great big ol' world. From that day on he captured my heart and just keeps squeezing. He has transformed so much in these 3 years. The baby who once wouldn't sleep anywhere but in Mom & Dad's arms to a boy who sleeps in his own big boy bed. From the baby who refused to eat a bottle until 3 days into my returning to work, to a kid who still refuses to each much more that chips, milk, hot dogs or chicken. From a baby attached to my hip, to the kiddo that hugs me like a monkey. You have been my little enigma from the get-go and continue to be just that. You are truly worth celebrating!

If I may borrow your words, "Love you so much!"

Happy Birthday Sweet Kale!

Tiger Scout & Shots

While Saturday was the best day ever for several reasons...my birthday, snow without a ton of ice, McD's hot cakes... it's hard to say where I would rank the Blue & Gold Banquet. Apparently it's a big deal for the cub scouts becoming boy scouts for me it was the Birthday dinner of a lifetime! Not sure how Steve will top that for next years birthday. I do think I am sick for next years banquet. Logan became a Tiger cub although I was hoping for drop out, maybe next year.

____________
SHOTS.....
No not for one of the boys and not the medical kind. Apparently someone needs to tell Steve that 33 29 is not the new 21 because he was buying me shots. At least they were lemon drops and not something wicked like yager but don't think he didn't consider it. It was a good thing the weather was a little icy so we weren't out partying like rock stars. Although, now that my boys got me Guitar Hero Band for my birthday we will all eventually be rock stars.
