Whether it's to gasp for air during laughter or the thing to do before counting to 10...it's important to just breathe when your raising 3 boys and a little lady! This is the story of us.
Okay so it wasn't really haunted but there was some spooky sounds going on. You get used to that when you live with boys! FYI, Em doesn't not like ghosts! After the revolution knocked around the soccer ball Saturday morning (ahhh....Logan nearly scored about 6 times! It was their best game ever!) we made a quick trip to KC for our annual Halloween celebration with the Kaisers. Not nearly the grand affair we normally have since it was a such a short trip. Plus we have got to start pacing our creative juices. You use up all your good ideas too soon and you wind up with nothing down the road. We did go to a pumpkin patch or should I say a patch of grass with pumpkins spread out on it. Hey they had pumpkins and hail bails for taking pictures therefore, it technically counts as a patch..although not to Em's standards. We had a K-State game to watch we had to call an audible. So instead of the Deanna Rose farm or a real pumpkin patch the Church around the corner had to cut it. Not that watching the game brought the Cats any luck since we took a L against Colorado. BOO! As you would expect we started our evening with an Asian Feast from East China (now that says Halloween) and then moved right into the main events of face painting and pumpkin carving. For the record Ryan was totally against the face painting from the get go and wasn't too into the carving hence his lame jack-o-lanterns. Camden was my first victim for face painting. We learned from hear that covering your entire face in red paint is not the best idea. It came off by mid Sunday morning. No harm no foul. You will seen the the pictures that face painting is not our expertise. The kids gave us the direction and we just followed on. Logan was the smart one and just went with a spider on his face. After face clean-up the carving competition began. Kasey D-Qed from the beginning because she has no carving spirit. I took first prize and Steve was a distant second and Ryan didn't even place. Jack-o-lanterns don't count boys! While the Halloween event didn't have all the bells and whistles of past years, the kids had a great time and we'll do it again next year.
